RED PLANET PICTURES APPOINTS TOM LEGGETT AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR

INDIE EXPANDS SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM WITH NEWLY CREATED ROLE AS IT DRIVES FORWARD INTO 20TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR

Red Planet Pictures, one of the UK’s leading producers of popular and internationally commercially successful drama has appointed Tom Leggett to the newly created role of Creative Director. Alongside Red Planet’s co-CEOs, Belinda Campbell and Alex Jones, Leggett will help to lead the company’s next phase of growth and shape its future slate of distinctive, ambitious drama.

Officially joining in February 2026, and working closely with Campbell, Leggett will spearhead the creation and delivery of new, returnable and limited series for UK and international audiences, oversee the development team, and champion creative excellence across Red Planet's existing slate.

The appointment comes as Red Planet Pictures celebrates twenty years in drama production, and is growing in momentum as they enter into their next decade. As well as being the producers behind 15 series of the global hit Death in Paradise and its hugely successful spin off series, Beyond Paradise, the company will also be going into production on the highly anticipated TV adaptation of Broadchurch creator, Chris Chibnall’s, debut novel, Death at the White Hart, for ITV - a co-production with Chibnall’s Imaginary Friends Productions.

Leggett joins Red Planet Pictures from Mammoth Screen where he was an Executive Producer across some of their most successful projects including the upcoming spy thriller Betrayal for ITV written by David Eldridge, directed by Julian Jarrold and starring Shaun Evans, Romola Garai and Zahra Ahmadi, as well as Grime Kids written by Theresa Ikoko for the BBC, and the forthcoming climate change thriller series, The Rapture written by Bryony Kimmings and Rebecca Manley for the BBC. He also developed the highly acclaimed ITV thriller Code of Silence written by Cat Moulton and starring Rose Ayling-Ellis.

Prior to joining Mammoth Screen, Leggett was Development Producer at House Productions where he worked with James Graham on the Bafta and EMMY Nominated Brexit: The Uncivil War and at Playground Entertainment where he developed the TV adaptation of Chimerica with playwright Lucy Kirkwood.

Leggett started his career in the British Independent Feature Film Industry, working at Film4 and Element Pictures where he worked on the Oscar Winning films Room and 12 Years a Slave, as well as acclaimed feature films 71’, The Riot Club and Our Kind of Traitor, amongst many others.

Tom Leggett said: “I am thrilled to be joining Red Planet Pictures in its incredible 20th year and to have been given the opportunity to shape and build the company’s next wave of shows. Belinda and the team at Red Planet share my passion and ambition to make Bold, Authored and Gripping drama for mainstream audiences. I can’t wait to get started!”

Belinda Campbell added:Tom brings an extraordinary track record to Red Planet Pictures and, as our Creative Director, will be central to shaping and expanding our future slate. With his exceptional taste and unrivalled expertise, I'm excited to work alongside him to deliver fresh, dynamic and character-led original dramas to audiences worldwide.”
